Deep Tissue Massage

What It Is

Deep tissue massage uses slower, more focused pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue where long-term tension holds on. It's not the same as 'hard massage' the pressure increases gradually and only goes as deep as your body will let it. Good deep tissue is firm and purposeful, not massively painful. Your therapist will communicate with you throughout the massage to ensure the pressure is comfortable.

Who It's For

Desk workers with locked-up shoulders and necks. Runners, cyclists, walkers, gym-goers. Anyone carrying an old injury that never quite settled. People who've tried a regular spa massage and thought 'more pressure, please.'

What Happens

We'll ask where the tightness is and work those areas in detail, usually back, shoulders, neck, glutes, legs. Slower pace than Swedish, more static pressure, sometimes elbows and forearms rather than just hands. You stay in control of the pressure throughout.

After-effects

Immediate relief in most cases, sometimes with a dull 'worked' feeling the next day similar to after a workout. Many clients notice ongoing benefits for 24–48 hours after treatment as muscle tension continues to ease

Pairs Well With

Hot stone massage (softens and warms muscle first). Regular monthly slot to keep tension at bay via a monthy massage membership.

"Had a really relaxing full body deep tissue massage with Ally at my home, it instantly relieved lots of tension! Would highly recommend."

frequently Asked Questions

Will it hurt?

Firm doesn't mean painful. Good deep tissue finds the edge of what your body can open up to, then sits there. If something ever feels sharp or wrong, say so we adjust immediately.

How often should I book deep tissue?

For a specific problem (say, a locked shoulder), weekly for 3–4 weeks usually sees real change. For maintenance, once a month is the rhythm most clients settle into.

I'm a runner — when should I book around a race?

Not the day before a race save that for a light Swedish. 2–4 days out is ideal for a proper deep tissue session, and 48 hours after is good for recovery.
