Reflexology

What It Is

Reflexology is a focused pressure-point therapy applied to the feet, based on the principle that specific points on the foot correspond to organs, systems and areas of the body. It's deeply relaxing, fully clothed, and works particularly well for clients who hold stress in ways that body massage doesn't always reach. Ideal for sleep problems, tension headaches, digestive complaints, and the wired can't switch off feeling.

Who It's For

Anyone who struggles with sleep, lives with chronic stress, or gets frequent tension headaches. Pregnant clients (a particularly safe and welcome treatment from the second trimester onwards). People who'd rather not undress for a treatment but still want something deeply relaxing. Clients who've tried body massage and want something different.

What Happens

You stay fully clothed and lie back on the table or recline on a sofa , whichever is more comfortable. Only your feet are bare. The therapist works systematically through the soles, tops and sides of both feet using thumb and finger pressure on specific reflex points. The pressure is firm but never painful, and you can ask for more or less at any point. Most clients drift somewhere between awake and asleep within the first ten minutes.

After-effects

Most clients describe a deep, drowsy calm, a different quality of relaxation to a body massage. Many sleep particularly well that night.

frequently Asked Questions

What's reflexology actually good for?

Reflexology works on reflex points in the feet that map to the rest of the body. It's particularly good for stress, sleep, headaches, digestive issues and the kind of general 'wired but tired' feeling that doesn't always shift with a body massage.

Will it tickle, or hurt?

No, reflexology is firm but not painful. Some points feel more sensitive than others, and that's usually where there's something to work on. We adjust the pressure to your tolerance throughout.

Is reflexology safe in pregnancy?

Yes, reflexology is one of the safest treatments in pregnancy and is often particularly welcome in the third trimester for swollen ankles and aching feet. We avoid certain points in the first trimester as standard practice.
