Hot Stone Massage

What It Is

Hot stone massage combines hands on massage with smooth, heated basalt stones placed on and moved across the body. The heat softens muscle tissue more quickly and more deeply than hands alone. The heat helps to warm and relax muscles, allowing for deeper pressure during the massage, easing tension, improving circulation, and supporting overall wellbeing.

Who It's For

People who want deep release without the firmer pressure of deep tissue. Clients with long-term tension in the back or shoulders. Anyone booking a treatment in winter, the warmth is genuinely lovely. Also popular as a 'treat yourself' booking.

What Happens

Stones are heated in a portable heater we bring with us. Some are placed on key points along your back and legs; others the therapist holds and uses as an extension of their hands. The weight and warmth does a lot of the work. Hands-on massage continues throughout, the stones don't replace touch, they enhance it.

After-effects

Deeply relaxed, often sleepy. Many clients say hot stones leaves them more unwound than any other treatment we offer.

frequently Asked Questions

How hot are the stones?

Warm, not hot. We heat them to a temperature that's noticeably warm but never uncomfortable. Always tested against the therapist's own skin before going on yours.

Is hot stone safe for everyone?

For most people yes. We avoid hot stone during pregnancy, for anyone with heart conditions, high blood pressure, diabetes or circulation issues. If you're unsure, mention it at booking and we'll advise.

Is oil still used like a regular massage?

Yes, massage oil is used as in a regular massage to allow the heated stones to glide smoothly over the skin.
